Training With Your Foster Dog
Your Choice, Lili Chin
The foundation of positive reinforcement training is always communication. Please approach every behavior issue you encounter by first trying to understand what your dog is trying to communicate to you. Use these helpful links to get started.

Doggie Language, Lili Chin
It is important to always keep in mind that your foster dog is likely experiencing a lot of changes and can feel overwhelmed when they arrive to your home. One of the most important things we can do when training our dogs is to meet them where they’re at. That means, do not set your expectations too low or too high. If your dog is not in the right frame of mind to take in new information, leave your training session for another time or start with baby steps! Use these links to help yourself understand what your dog may be feeling and how to start small with them.

While we encourage our foster families to work on minor behavior issues with their foster dogs, please never hesitate to reach out for advice! Our Foster Group on Facebook is a great resource for feedback and ideas. We understand that some behavior issues require professional help and luckily we work with some wonderful trainers. If you feel that your foster dog requires a professional dog trainer, please use the button below to request a session. Please provide a thorough description of the problem behavior that we can relay to our trainers.
*Please do not use an outside dog trainer. Ho-Bo Care works with several trusted force-free dog trainers throughout Colorado.
