Surrendering Your Boxer to Ho-Bo Care

*Please note, filling out this form does not officially surrender your dog to Ho-Bo Care.

We will review the information and contact you to discuss options.*

Ho-Bo Care wants to help owners consider options that may easily resolve the issues which could lead to surrender.  Links and resources are provided below and we encourage you to let us help you keep your dog as a valued family member. Please review the information below and if it is not possible to keep your dog, please fill out the surrender form.

BEHAVIORS

If a behavior is new, such as urinating in the home or growling when handled, consider first consulting your veterinarian as the problem may be due to a medical condition which can be treated. Your veterinarian will also be able to rule out any physical cause of the problem and perhaps be able to refer you to a trainer or animal behaviorist experienced in Positive Reinforcement Training to help address the behavior problem.

PET FRIENDLY RENTALS

With so many families having pets, more pet-friendly rental housing is available. It can take time to find the right place so begin your search as soon as you know you will be moving.

IF YOU HAVE MADE THE DECISION TO SURRENDER YOUR DOG TO RESCUE

You will be asked to tell us everything you can about your dog, that will help to make his/her transition to a new home as easy as possible.

We will assess your dog prior to their arrival through the intake questionnaire, and then an in person evaluation.

We do not do open adoptions – meaning, we will not give you any information of the adopting party.

It is helpful to us if your dog is already spayed or neutered and up-to-date on vaccines.  Please call your vet to get all records to surrender with the dog. Due to our costs as a rescue, a donation of any amount is appreciated upon surrender.

If you have adopted a dog from us, the dog MUST be relinquished back to us and cannot be given away to any other family, shelter or rescue.

Please fill out the following form and submit a clear picture of the dog. The picture needs to be the dog only and cannot include people.  This information helps is to find the best home possible for your dog.
